- this is not a scored event
- place the triangle over the hooks on the machine base
- create a loop at the end of the twine and place it over one of the hooks on the base
- one of the participants, with the hand piece must stand away from the stand (how far away the participant is will determine the length of the rope; rope will be half the length of the original twine)
- after placing the loop over the first hook, run the twine from the hook to the participant with the hand piece and loop the twine over the hand piece hook
- bring the twine back to the first hook on the base and then back to the hand piece
- bring the twine back to the second hook on the base and then back to the hand piece
- bring the twine back to the third hook on the base and then back to the hand piece, where it is tied off
- make sure the twine is pulled tight, and slide the triangle towards the hand piece
- there should be two people at one end; one holding the hand piece and one holding the triangle, which must be held steady
- there should be one person at the base end, who winds the handle
- as the handle is turned, the twine will begin to twist itself, as the triangle slides towards the stand, rope is formed behind it
- when the rope is made, cut it off the machine and bind it with tape, ensure there are enough pieces for each member of the group
